This city is a major point for immigrants hence the name 'melting pot' used to describe the densely populated immigrant neighbourhoods on the Lower East Side. This results in New York City being the most linguistically diverse city in the world with over 800 languages spoken there. English remains the most widely spoken language however there are some people in the outer boroughs with limited to no English fluency. The diversity in languages spoken and the many multicultural communities make New York City a fantastic place to discover and learn about the rest of the world.
